  • Clover Park School District students taking Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes can earn dual high school and postsecondary credits from Pierce College, Clover Park Technical College, and Bates Technical College. High school CTE teachers will assist their students to enroll their class in the Statewide Enrollment and Registration System (SERS). Students must earn a ‘C’ or higher in the CTE high school course to earn the postsecondary CTE dual credit.

Benefits of Earning College Credit in High School

    • Earn double credit (both high school and college credit) for completing a high school course.
    • Stay on the high school campus and receive college credit.
    • Save college tuition costs before graduating from high school.
    • Receive priority registration if, after high school graduation, the student attends the community/technical college that granted the dual credit.

How to Register to Earn College Credit in High School

Contact your high school CTE teacher, Counselor, or the College & Career Resource Center Specialist.

Please Note: registering for dual credit at your high school does not automatically record the credit at the college. For information about how to apply your dual credit to your college, please visit PC3Connet's website.

Schools and Colleges of Pierce County comply with all federal rules and regulations and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age marital status, disability or veteran's status and are equal opportunity employers that follow affirmative action guidelines and practices. Questions regarding these policies should be directed to the CTE Director or Administrator at the applicant’s high school or college.

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) course equivalencies provide students with the opportunity to meet the learning standards for a specific core academic subject (e.g., fine arts, health, math, science, and social studies) while earning credit for the aligned CTE course within that CTE class.

    Equivalency Credit Criteria:

    • An equivalency course must be completed in its entirety in order for “equivalency credit” to be granted.
    • An equivalency waiver may satisfy two graduation requirements: one in the curriculum area in which a course is offered and one in the curriculum area in which the course appears on the approved list.
    • No course shall be worth more than the credit it has been assigned. For instance, a semester course which is .5 credits may not be worth more than .5 credits.
    • Equivalencies may not satisfy college admission requirements. Please check with the individual colleges for clarification.
